Ok, this is our ottoman. It’s large and it’s amazing. We love it. It was passed down to us from my husband’s brother and his wife. It was originally a leather top with some rips and tears, but my amazing husband reupholstered it and refinished the wood part (the base) as well. He’s just so darn handy! 🙂 Anyway, having a toddler has led to the above photo. It’s worn. It has stains and marks all over. I was reading all over Pinterest for some ideas of how to clean it, easily and somewhat quickly. The thing I found most repeatedly was baking soda. You just sprinkle it on the fabric, let is sit for 15-60 minutes and then vacuum it up and the stains should be gone. Ok. Sounds super easy. So I did that first. Nope. Did not do a thing. So I sprinkled it on again, but this time I also sprayed some water down, thinking that would help the baking soda “stick” to the stains and help pull them out.
This time I left it for a little over an hour. After the hour, I vacuumed it up again. And was left with this result;
SOMEWHAT better than the beginning, but still not what I’d like. So it’s back to Pinterest, unless one of you has a better, easier suggestion? I don’t have a carpet shampooer, so that’s out. I prefer something that can be done while my child is sleeping, won’t damage the fabric and can be done with products I already have. AKA, budget-friendly. 🙂 Ready, set, go!!!! In the meantime, off to Pinterest!
