Imagine my surprise when I open up my blog and see that I have been mentioned on someone else’s blog (you can see it here)! I was floored and absolutely humbled that someone else would even think to mention me. It also showed me that I need to be more clear about what exactly I am all about. I want this to be a lifestyle blog. I’ll be forthcoming and honest about who I am and what my life is all about. I won’t sugarcoat my life. I promise to show the good with the bad.
As for the baking – I will definitely accept orders and be happy to bake and ship to folks. I do love baking and enjoy it when others find my baking just as yummy as I do. A friend of mine once told me that her dad said he can tell the difference when her mother cooks with love and when she’s just cooking hurriedly. That stuck with me and I try my best to always cook/bake with love. The recipes are handed down from my relatives and I aim to make them proud with what I bake and cook. My mom is a huge inspiration to me in this area. I grew up watching her in the kitchen. She taught me all I know, for sure. Without a doubt!!! She would bake and bake around the holidays, just to take cookies to neighbors and the mailman, all to show them how much we appreciated them. She made chocolate and candies. They were absolutely delicious! She made our birthday cakes and they were spectacular. Apparently we didn’t have money, growing up, but we sure didn’t know this, as kids. All we knew was that our bellies were full and our eyes were satisfied. 🙂 My mom was also absolutely amazing at making a meal out of nothing. She’d take the leftovers from the refrigerator and make this yummy meal from it. All to be frugal and wise with the things we had. I do my best, now, to ensure we use up leftovers and not waste them. I’ll go more into detail how I handle kitchen duties and meals in a different post.
If you’re interested in any of my baked goods, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I don’t have a list made up yet of everything I bake, but am working on it. If you’re interested in something before the list is made, I do all cookies and brownies. I also do truffles. I do not currently make cakes, as those are much harder to bake, decorate and ship. 😉 My recipes are NOT low-fat, gluten-free, dairy-free or low-calorie, as a whole. I will be working on tweaking recipes here and there to make them “healthier” but for now, I’m sticking to the recipes as they are – pure Amish. Because, come on, sometimes full fat, full calorie and full-on flavor is the best thing when you’re going to indulge anyway. Just run an extra mile that day. 😉
